Questions.

Does this work for DIY, or only for checking a contractor?+
Both. DIY is fully supported — framing a wall, wiring an outlet, rerouting a drain, tiling a bathroom. Upload your sketches, permits, or work-in-progress photos and a vetted pro will tell you what to fix and what to watch for. Same product when you're hiring out: an independent second opinion on someone else's work before you commit.
How does a Professional Review actually work?+
Upload photos, permits, plans, and anything you're wondering about. A vetted pro claims your review, looks it over on their own time (usually within a day or two), and sends back your Review as a PDF with findings, red flags, and next steps. They can ask you follow-up questions. You can ask up to 3 of your own. Everything stays in writing.
How do I know the pro is real?+
Every reviewer is manually vetted by an admin — website, LinkedIn, portfolio of past work, plus any active licenses their trade and state require. Minimum years in the field. No bots, no auto-approvals.
What if the review doesn't help?+
Email our concierge team within 48 hours. We'll make it right or refund you.
How long do I have to use my Review?+
12 months from purchase. Any project in your account — bathroom today, kitchen next spring, second property next summer.
Can you review a contractor's proposal before I sign?+
Yes — on the scope of work, not the legal terms. A vetted pro will tell you whether the described work is complete, whether the materials and methods are appropriate, what's missing that a reputable contractor would normally spec, and what to clarify before you sign. A scope sanity-check from someone who does the work.
Can the pro review my contract terms?+
No. Our pros are construction professionals, not lawyers. For payment schedules, warranty language, liability clauses, or lien waivers, talk to an attorney.
Can I use the Review in a contractor dispute?+
Yes. Reviews are dispute-ready and routinely accepted in small claims and arbitration. For civil court, they're strongest combined with the pro's live testimony — ask us if your case needs that. A Review is a workmanship observation by a vetted construction professional. It doesn't replace a municipal inspection required by law.
Does my reviewer have to be licensed in my state or province?+
No. Workmanship standards — installation quality, slope, traps, joint integrity, fastening, manufacturer-install correctness — are substantially uniform across North America. A plumber in New York can spot hack work on a California or Ontario job just as well as a local. Your pro will flag code concerns and cite what they're confident about. Pass/fail code compliance outside the jurisdictions where they're licensed (when their trade requires a license) is for a local pro or municipal inspector.
Will the pro solicit work from me afterward?+
No. Solicitation is prohibited by our Code of Conduct. A Review is an independent second opinion. Not a sales call.
